Machans Beach
Cairns first beach from the city heading north. Doesn't really have much of a beachfront as such, rather a rock retaining wall to stop it from falling into the sea! The inlet at Machans provides a small area of sandy beach which is great for estuary fishing. 
Some aircraft noise is evident as it is relatively close to the Cairns International Airport.

Holloways Beach.
The second beach heading north situated 10 kilometres from Cairns.  Quite popular due to its closeness to the city. Has Stinger resistant nets in place during the jellyfish season from November to May. 
A quiet sandy beach, with shade provided by beach almond trees and shea oaks, enjoyed by tourists and locals alike . Facilities include a beachfront bar and restaurant, shop and fuel, takeaway, eateries, BBQ and children's play area, tennis courts, lawn bowls and an environmental centre. 


Yorkeys Knob.
15 minutes from Cairns City. Safe swimming within stinger enclosure. Restaurants, small shopping centre, world class marina, sporting activities.
Nestled in the cove of Half Moon Bay is the Yorkeys Knob Boating Club serving bistro meals in an open air setting with expansive views of the marina and the ocean from the covered balcony, and a courtesy bus is available. The Half Moon Bay Marina offers 200 sheltered berths for vessels to 30 metres. 
One of the most popular golf courses in the Tropical North is the picturesque Half Moon Bay Golf Club overlooking the Boating Club and Marina providing magnificent views across the Coral Sea. 

Trinity Beach
Arguably Cairns favourite beach and 20 minutes from the city. A long sandy beach offering safe deep water swimming and a variety of water sport.
Facilities include a number of restaurants and casual eateries as well as a wide range of essential services including supermarket and shopping complex, tennis, squash, gym, lawn bowls, polo, local AFL club, large community park, children's play areas, water sports, BBQ's.

Kewarra Beach
Situated 18 kilometres from Cairns and is a quiet stretch of sand bordering a grassy shady area enjoyed mainly by it's residents. Facilities include a car park with children's play equipment, a beach shower, and wood and gas BBQ 's

Clifton Beach
Clifton Beach is situated approximately 20 kilometres from Cairns and is easily accessible by various forms of transport .
Clifton Beach is a tropical, quiet beach where visitors mingle with the locals. Facilities include a BBQ with children's play area.

Palm Cove
Cairns premier beach destination. A vibrant, popular destination the palm fringed beach offers easy access to the coral sea via the jetty. 
Facilities include sports centre, golf course, beach bar, nightclub, boutique shops, water sports, children's play area, BBQ's, jetty fishing, world class dining, and takeaways 
Accommodation bookings are always best to be made in advance as Palm Cove is often very busy especially during school holidays.

Ellis Beach
A further 5 minutes north of Palm Cove and the beginning of the beautiful coastal drive to Port Douglas is Ellis Beach. This long stretch of clear water beach is a popular spot for swimmers. A great beach front caravan park is available for accommodation.
